Lawrence was such a lovely man. He was a shining example of what made Tackley so special for me, when I lived there. I have 3 lasting memories.
Every time I see a Sunday newspaper or a quick assembly plastic table, I think of my time at the shop, and Lawrence sorting the papers on his table, come rain or shine. Also, at the shop, I remember Lawrence climbing into the cardboard skip outside the shop to flatten it, he did it often to save the shop money. Now I work at Robert Dyas and one of my jobs is putting the cardboard into the skip, I think of Lawrence every time I do, though I haven’t climbed in them yet!
My third memory - I was walking toward the Methodist church, when Lawrence stopped me and asked where I was going and how long I’d be there. Fifteen minutes later he arrives with flowers in abundance saying there had been an event and there were a lot of flowers at it and he wondered if the Methodist Church would like to share them with his church.
He will be sadly missed by family, friends and all that knew him.
